Accessibility

Paper Plains Zine Fest takes place over two days and at a number of different locations across Lawrence. Additional information about accessing programming locations will be available closer to the fest. All locations for Paper Plains Zine Fest are ADA-accessible.

Day Two, our Vendor Fair, takes place at Van Go, located at 715 New Jersey Street.

Van Go is wheelchair accessible. Aisles between exhibitor rows are wide enough for mobility devices to navigate. There are stairs leading up to the main exhibition hall inside the front (east) entrance of Van Go. There is a lift just to the left of the staircase. All indoor and outdoor spaces that are part of the zine fest are on flat ground.

There is a large amount of free parking at or near Van Go. The Santa Fe Train Depot (across the street) has a large lot available. Free on-street parking is also available throughout the East Lawrence neighborhood. There is also a large parking lot on the west side of the Amtrak Train Depot. It is at the north end of New York street, just over the train tracks.

Bus routes #1 and #15 go down to 7th and Connecticut, which is about two blocks away from the venue at 7th and New Jersey.

PPZF is accessible by bicycle. Bike racks are located on the north side of the venue.

Gender neutral bathrooms are available in the main exhibition hall, as well as the gallery room. Free seating will be available in the gallery area and outside.

Jammy will be DJing a set of ambient music during the fest. We will keep the volume of Jammy’s DJ set at a reasonable level in order to make the festival more accessible to those with auditory conditions. The music that will be played at PPZF will be ambient and relaxing. Service animals are welcome in the exhibition hall. Pets that are not service animals are not allowed.

PPZF is a scent-aware, smoke-free space. While we’re not able to guarantee a 100% scent-free space due to the size of our event, we encourage attendees to refrain from wearing perfume, fragrances, or cologne the day of the event to make our space more accessible for individuals with Multiple Chemical Sensitivities. In addition, no vaping or smoking inside PPZF is allowed.

If you have any questions about the accessibility of the event, please email us at paperplainszinefest@gmail.com.
